Description
The Chiltern pencil skirt is cut in 58% wool 42% linen and finished in graphite grey. cut on the walnut table in our London workshop and finished by hand at the collar, buttonholes and hem.
How the garments are built
58% wool 42% linen. Jacket fronts are built on a half-canvas of horsehair and cotton, pad-stitched through the lapel so the roll line falls without pressing, with a chest piece across the shoulder and a light shoulder wadding rather than a moulded pad. Body seams are 12mm, taped at the shoulder and armhole, and pressed open over a ham. Linings are cupro or viscose twill with a pleat at the centre back so the shoulder can move, and the sleeve head is set by hand. Trousers carry a stiffened waistband curtain, a hook-and-bar closure behind the brass-finish zip, French-seamed side pockets in cotton pocketing and a 5cm hem allowance for altering. Skirts use a faced waistband, a lapped zip and a walking vent at the back. Shirts are single-needle stitched at the armhole and side seam with a two-piece collar on a fused band, seven buttons and a boxed back pleat.
Care
Dry clean only. Close the zip and hooks before storing, hang from the waistband loops and steam the pleats rather than pressing them flat.
